Partnerships
There are many different definitions for the word "partnership", but for
you as a property manager, we are going to concentrate on the idea of one
business helping another business. You may already have some business
partnerships but just don't think of them as such. For example, you may
provide welcome baskets for new tenants that include coupons or gift
certificates to local restaurants or other businesses. By offering such an
item, you have entered into a partnership with those other businesses to help
promote the community as a whole. So how can you take advantage of those
partnerships online?
One option is to provide links to a neighborhood business from your own
online presence and having that business provide a link back to your own
site. This type of reciprocal linking is very common on the Internet and is
used to help recommend other businesses while helping yourself.
So now you say to yourself, "But I don't know any businesses that have
their own site." It may just be that you aren't aware of their Internet site.
Try looking around your neighborhood at some of the businesses that your
tenants might frequent, and then try calling a few and ask if they have an
Internet site. The answers might surprise you!
If you have a community message area for your tenants, you can offer to
list links to these local businesses for the same consideration. Many
Internet sites will have a separate "Links" page or section for just this
purpose. Even if it only results in a few additional visits per month, they
are sure to be visits from people looking for an apartment. More importantly,
it didn't cost you a dime!
